Well-made. Still Not-Quite what I was hoping.
I already bought a "flat-blade/universal" version of this tool in the Gardner-Bender/GB variety. It made two strips on standard solid-core 12-ga wire with the extra plastic coating before, apparently, loosening up and failing to do any more clean strips. The complete picture is that the environment was around 20F so the insulation(s) were a little stiffer than in, say, July.
This tool otoh has separately sized holes for each gauge, but again, temperature seems to matter. It works fine to strip 12-ga on the 12-ga hole if the wire is warm enough, but has trouble if it's cold. I then drop down to the 14-ga hole to start it and back to the 12-ga to finish.
I'd LOVE to have a Special Single-Gauge Version of this tool, Dedicated--and Optimized in terms of Forces Needed--to JUST 12-ga. Solid, but I think it's going to take that to get a 5* rating.

I'm loving it. Had an unfounded concern about the USB interface chip but works fine.
Already using it as the basis of a 3D scanner based on an IR laser diode. (The resolution of the VL6180 sensor leaves a LOT to be desired, but the Arduinoid UNO R3 is as good as any.) I was concerned about the USB protocol being provided by an ic different than the one on the original, but what's there works just fine. I bought a wall wart which does seem to power it up, but possibly not enough to run the LCD daughterboard properly. Works fine with the USB power, and I'll keep trying other DC power sources.

"Lightweight. And works fine out-of-the-box."
1 of 1 found this helpful Meets all my expectations. The cord is too short to be useful on a desktop with backside-only USB ports, so be sure to get an extender. I'm sure the target was notebook computers with no built-in DVD drives. Very happy with the little fellow.
