G&L Tribute Legacy with Flamed Maple Top 3-Color Sunburst Rosewood Fingerboard
    Feb 09, 2016
Very nice strat style guitar for the money
I should start by qualifying that I only had this G&L Legacy Tribute a few days, and my impression of it is very much initial and not long term. Because of the unusually low price, I messaged the seller asking if there were any issues, or if this was a demo instrument. I was told "no issues, it is new". When I got it, it played great for a few minutes, then suddenly I got no sound in middle pickup position, only one sound at positions 1 & 2, and only one sound between 4 & 5. I paid a local guitar shop to replace the pickup switch but that wasn't the issue. So I returned it Judging by all the glowing reviews I've read, I suspect this is an unusual problem. The playing feel, fit and finish, and sound were all great! I mean for an Indonesian made guitar, really great. I especially like the G&L passive bass and treble controls. Combined with a 5-way switch, lots of different tones. It is also very comfortable to hold and play, but that's how Leo Fender designed it to be. After returning it, I got a good deal on a USA made "G&L ASAT Classic S Alnico", which also has 3 pickups and a 5-way switch, but in a tele-style body. The looks and tone suited me more. This is all subjective opinion, but I'm glad I paid more for a USA model, because it is one fantastic feeling and sounding instrument! The Legacy Tribute really is a nice guitar, compared to similarly priced Fender models. But even though I am not a pro or an expert, I can tell a significant difference with a USA made model, and a lot of it is in the neck. I can't say if there's a difference in sound quality or tone, because the ASAT and Legacy are different models with different pickups. Bottom line, if you only have $300-$500 to spend on a solid-body electric guitar, the only thing in that price range I've played that rivals the G&L Legacy Tribute in quality and playing feel is a Korean PRS SE (I own 2). In fact, if I didn't have extra money from a second job right now, I'd have stuck with the Legacy (G&L doesn't make a 3-pickup, Nashville-style ASAT overseas, USA only). That's right, out of all the strat style guitars out there under $1,000, I'd pick the Legacy Tribute. I loved it, I just love the USA ASAT more.
Joyo JF-14 American Sound Fender Deluxe Amp Simulator Pedal Bundle w/Cables

Great sounding pedal for the price
I saw YouTube videos about this pedal which impressed me, and for the price, it was worth a gamble. My expectations were not high because of the price and I've been less than thrilled with the sound of other products, in real life, that seemed great in video reviews. Some purists might say that it doesn't sound like a Fender Deluxe amp. It might not, but it does sound great! It offers a really nice range of tones from twangy clean to beefy distortion. I have a PRS with P-90 pickups, a G&L ASAT with single coils, and a Gretch hollowbody with Blacktop Filtertrons, and it sounds great with all of them, if I make the appropriate adjustments. I like Line 6's Fender amp models, and while this sounds a little different, I'd say it's on par with the quality of the 2nd gen, Pod Farm/Amplifi models. Every knob on this pedal is useful and causes a gradual (no spikes or sudden shifts) but dramatic change in the tone that is easy to adjust quickly. This amazed me - that a cheap, Chinese pedal would combine such nice sounds with progressive controls that are easy to tweak. Some more expensive units have you turning the knob, straining to hear a change in the tone, then suddenly shift wildly in a narrow band of the overall range of the knob. My only amp right now is a Shertler designed for acoustic guitars and vocals, so this pedal gets me close to the tones I'd get from an electric guitar amp. I'd definitely recommend it. It won't replace a tube amp, but for the price it's amazing.
