Restored my reciprocating saw from junk to a working tool.
Restored my reciprocating saw from junk to a working tool. Removed 16 Phillips head screws and lifted the cover up to expose the motor and gear mechanism. Had trouble removing two c-clips since I didn't have a small tool and used small screwdrivers. Removed 4 threaded Phillips head screws to take cover off felt and guides. Lifted out the broken holder, took guides and felt off. Put them on the new holder. Placed it back in place; replaced 4 screws and c-clips. Held blade lever to put gear mechanism back. Put cover back on and 16 screws. Wow, it now holds a blade and could be used again!!

Did not last long.
After several starts, it would no longer turn the flywheel. It would just spin. I took gears off old starter and put on the new. It started right up. My old windings were ruined. The new windings are good. Something wrong with reduction gears on new starter.
