Kenton Electronics MIDI USB Host INTERFACE - NEW - PERFECT CIRCUIT
    Jan 26, 2017
Using Kenton Midi Host mkii with USB Hub
I wanted to tx pc messages to multiple Zoom pedals: the Midi Host helped me achieve my goal. It is abit pricey at MSRP.... but it does what i need. Cant imagine what the build materials cost, but for the current price i think they should use a housing at least twice as thick...i dunno, maybe there's alot more to the guts than i am aware. NOTE: if you are wanting to use this with a hub you need to first power on the Kenton with nothing connected, then plug-in the USB hub, then plug-in your first devise, then second device, then third, etc. Also, you will need to use ISOLATED POWER SUPPLY(s) if you are using a usb hub: otherwise you get ground loop noise and, because you are not using the Kenton to power your pedals, you can use an inexpensive PASSIVE USB HUB. The Kenton is feather light and the housing is FRAGILE: it will flex when you squeeze it!!! So...if you are going to be gigging with it, probably best to make a protective housing and make sure you keep it somewhere away from crushing feet and protect the connectors from any disturbing pressures... NEW IN WRAP CD - THE SIXTEEN MEN OF TAIN +2 ALLAN HOLDSWORTH - OBI - GEN
    Apr 15, 2020
Thanks to this existence for Allan Holdsworth!
Great productionL not overly slick. If you are a holdsworth fan, you cannot go wrong with this one: beautiful compositions...lots of over the top leads (as usual) but wonderfully balanced by amazing tones and soaring extraterrestrial melodies. I also thoroughly enjoy Gary Novak's drumming: delicate thunder, great counterpoint grooves. as with all holdsworth albums, i wish the this one was longer, but it is a sonic journey full of twist and turns and intricate details that will keep you coming back:-)
E-Mu Virtuoso 2000 Orchestral Synth with Proteus ROM's Emu

Orchestral sounds in a Hardware box
I bought this specifically for ambient/drone composition sans computer/software. Originally, i wanted a roland jv1080/2080, but got tired of waiting for the one that had the right sound cards for a reasonable price. This box has deep editing capabilities all available on front panel: depending on how deep you go it can be time consuming compared to a good software GUI, but its easier than some similarly-aged yamaha and korg synth modules i have worked with; Emu modules seem to have very long attack/decay parameters (which is what i was looking for) and Nice sounding filters. I wanted orchestral sounds and thankfully many of the Virtuoso sounds are pretty good...some not so much, but there is alot on the menu to choose from. Midi-wise, it has 32 cc's: some fixed #'s, but most are assignable to whatever # you choose. Overall, Very satisfied with my purchase. I know software stuff (East/West) sounds amaaazing and has easier editing, but i wanted a computer-free symphony box and the Virtuoso is working for me (for now).
