A reliable old workhorse
1 of 1 found this helpful We had been using this version for so many years that the book was coming apart. I could find specific recipes by the stains that were smudged on the corner of many pages. As a surprise gift, I bought this for my wife's birthday. She had actually hinted a few days before that she wished the old workhorse could be replaced. The book is a standard of not particularly imaginative american cooking. The newer editions have healthier, more international dishes but this is the one I use for the basic stuff, and I know where everything is that I want.
A recent movie about Julia Childs has her meeting with the author and generally expressing contempt about the dullness of the stuff and the fact that the authors had not actually prepared many of the dishes when putting the cookbook together back in the 40's
I was always amused by the recipe for marshmallows.

Works the way its supposed to.
I got a "good deal" on a charger that was a sloppy fit and did not fully charge the battery. I returned it and got the one that came with the camera, an actual Canon part. Charges fast and completely. Worth a few dollars more.
