For real Monkee fans
1 of 1 found this helpful I watched this movie when it first came out in 2000. I also studied the background of it. The producers did a casting call and got for young man that looked very much like the original Monkees to play their parts. What's interesting, just a little kid bed, is that they took lease for guys that were cash and just put them in a room for a few hours and tell them to get to know each other, talk while playing around, just get to know each other. If you're really want to know about the monkeys and their arjan's, look up the True Hollywood Story on YouTube it's an hour and a half long, but it features all four of the original monkeys, they tell the whole story about how that came to be, including the fact that Peter was the only one who had a lot I've musical experience. Mike did also, mainly on the guitar. Mickey and Daisy neither one could play anything oh, but they learned! A great movie, and it was endorsed by The Monkees, which makes it even better. I absolutely adored The Monkees, because I was 11 at the time. My favorite was Peter, who unfortunately died a few days ago from mouth cancer. He was so quirky and silly an oddball, but very few people know that he was a musical genius. Anyway, I love them all. I wish it was 1967 again!
