valve dimensions haven't changed in a while
It may have been new as in unused, but I don't think it was *new*. The packaging was torn open such that the plastic was completely separated from the cardboard. The cardboard looked and felt like it was ten or twenty years old. But the part fit in my faucet and now my faucet handle doesn't leak, so it does what I needed it to do. It actually went into the faucet easier than the old one came out and the handle feels easier to turn than the old valve (that was new in the faucet when we bought it).
