noticeably greater range

I don't use the 5Hz band, but that might be useful for a crowded apartment complex. The signal level at the furthest point in our house was substantially greater than the previous router. And the peak throughput is higher.

excellent value and service

I bought this routers based on the reviews which suggested greater range than my older Netgear WNR2000v3, which delivered poor signal strength upstairs in my office; a distance of about 70' and through several walls and floor structure. The AS1200 was easy to setup and delivered good signal throughout the house.

Desktop speakers, good sound, small footprint

My only criticism it ergonomic. It would be more convenient if the on/off switch was incorporated in the top side volume control instead of on the back. Having to pick up the right-hand speaker so that it can be turned to reach the on/off switch. It seems like a stupid design mistake. The sound is pretty good but the bass would be improved with the addition of a sub-woofer. For someone wanting speakers with a small footprint and good sound these would be a very cost effective choice. Some reviewers have criticised the bright orange power light. I find it a little distracting: a tiny green light would have been a better choice.
