Finally not another pathetic NFS alike attempt.

Before I got this game, my top favorite was NFS HotPursuit II. Other racing games were just pathetic attempts to copy the masters. Alfa Romeo Racing Italiano though is a wonderful surprise. Although it does not give you the thrill of incredible speeds and the beauty of vistas that NFS delivers, it gives you a solid competitive game experience with very realistic driving simulation. It is similar to NFS, but I would not call it a clone due to interesting ideas this game introduced: 1) Only Alfa Romeo cars. 2) Interesting challenges (speed traps, speed limit challenges). 3) RPG like experience with driver development (gear, skill). I barely started playing, but already has hours of great entertainment. My kids love to watch me drive these great Italian cars and tracks. Highly recommended.

Just as I remember from 20 years ago. It's a bit easier to run this game on a PC than on a playstation and it needs plenty of free space on a memory card. I recommend to get an extra memory card dedicated for sim city saves.

Best racing game ever and best NFS edition.

I owned PC version of this game for many years now as well as few other NFS editions (NFS II, HotPursuit III for older Windows 98). I recently purchased used PS2 console and out of curiosity bought PS2 version of NFS HP II. I am not disappointed. The game delivers the same great experience on a TV screen with the PS2 controller as it did on a much higher resolution LCD with racing wheel on my PC. May be a little harder on my eyes as I own the regular (not HD) TV and PS2 does not deliver higher than VGA resolution modes, but otherwise it is a great game providing hours and hours of fun. The game play is smooth, there is no stuttering of the frame rate on PS2 as it sometimes happened on PC. The sensitivity of the PS2 controller is well balanced so there is no problem with handling. Multiple modes, challenges, Hot Pursuit, Be a Cop and Championship provide hours of entertainment. IMHO the best edition of NFS that gave me years of fun, I return to this game on regular basis. EA games are truly the masters of the electronic entertainment arena. A+++
