Diamond in the Rough
1 of 1 found this helpful I have a collection over well over 1500 horror films. Mostly 70's and 80's titles, as I believe it truly was the "Golden Era" of horror films. Once 1985 came about, the market was flooded with over campy, low budget, comedic horror. Most comedy-Horror is unbearable to me, but there are a few titles that stand above the rest(in a good way). Night of the Creeps is about an alien project that crashes in the 1950's in the woods near a college campus. Then we jump ahead to 1986 where two guys who aren't the most popular on campus, decided to join a frat. They end up discovering the alien experiment, and releasing it apon campus. A bunch of super-slugs get inside people, lays eggs in their brains and zombify them. Later on, the head explodes and more slugs go in search of more brains.
The heroes team up with a cop who lost his girlfriend to an axe murderer back in the 50's. All stories tie together because of the slugs in the end and it sets the stage for explosive revenge for everyone. I enjoyed almost everything about this film. The only thing I didn't care for was when they made a TV edit, there were a few scenes cut from the films they put back in for TV to make up for cut out gore. The scenes are GOLD. There was also a second ending filmed which adds on to the end of the films which is also GOLD. I really think that when this comes to DVD (if ever) these scenes should find thier way back into the mix. The film "Slither" has really borrowed alot from this film. More out of a respect or love of the film than trying to rip it off. One of my favorites for sure.

Black Sheep Contra
If you can pretend that you’re playing a game similar to Contra, but isn’t, it is a fun game. This game really pushes the NES hardware to its limits, and the lag might bother you. If the was called anything other than Contra, I feel like people would accept it more openly. But when you put that big of a name on a game, it already has a lot to live up to.
