If you want 3D, this is the one to get. Otherwise hold out for the new 2DS XL
14 of 14 found this helpful Ostensibly I bought this as a birthday present for my daughter. But actually I wanted to relive some old memories too. The new 2DS XL being released in July was not good timing for being a present, so I thought a used 3DS XL would be a little cheaper, plus have 3D. Win win.
It's a great little console. I played with the regular (non-XL) size too, but the screen is obviously smaller and the bezel is too annoying. No, this is the one to get, and it has a fairly advanced tracking tech so that the 3D effect follows your eyes around - unlike the previous generation of these handhelds.
Putting Pilotwings Resort on in 3D is fantastic, a real joy, as the 3D makes it look like you're flying a cute model airplane. And Super Mario 3D Land just pops with colors and the 3D looks beautiful. It'll be a shame to hand it over to my daughter on her birthday!
Cons: the hardware isn't very advanced technically, the screen resolution is poor for 2017. Well, it was poor for 2015. And probably before that.
Pluses: the games! the 3D! the colors pop and the games are just charming (I am usually a hardened PS4 player of open-world shooters).

A minor revelation
I’m not an expert, had some proper Sony wired cans in the 1990s but since then stuck to (mid-range) in-ear variety mostly for the convenience for traveling etc. But I’ve been reading reviews of noise cancelling headphones and how the tech has been improving. I’m quite bothered by noisy environments (a medical condition, hyperacusis as a result of tinnitus). So I was anxious to try these. They’re not cheap but they are great value - I use them almost every day. Music comes back to life with them, and I returned to older albums I owned and re-downloaded them in order to hear them ‘properly’. A minor revelation! They fold up and can be transported easily in their accompanying case. Definitely a fan of them.

Great keyboard, thick case
I didn't think I would be one of those iPad owners who uses a keyboard and tries to do work. But I am one now. The thing is, the keyboard has to be decent, functional, instantly pairing, and have special buttons to do things on the iPad. And this does have all that. Also, it's pretty thick, with lots of padding. It bulks up the whole package, but definitely adds extra protection.
Tested it out recently in a workplace environment - press a button on the keyboard, and the iPad springs to life. I was typing comfortably and could do much more serious work on it if necessary. This is reassuring.
Well designed product. Great keyboard with decent key travel. Well thought-out special keys (for getting back to 'Home' launcher, task switching, copy and paste, etc). I'm impressed.
Why one star off? Because the iPad slots into some plastic holders, and although it seems solid now I wonder how long this case will last. If it stops fitting in because the holders snap off, this will be pretty useless. Just have to take care of this better - and when it's all folded up, it offers admirable protection. All in all, recommended product (I tend to use my keyboards for long typing sessions, and get grumpy when there are poor or spongy keyboards: not a problem with this case!).
