Functional item. Fragile bezel.
Almost as soon as I unpackaged the item, the plastic bezel began popping off of the housing on the side opposite the ejector button, and the bezel won't stay attached at that end. Pretty flimsy. But the item does work. I mounted a drive in the housing, slid the housing into place, and the laptop recognized the drive and could read/write successfully. But my feeling is that the bezel is so flimsy that there is no value-add in having it. Might as well just have a cheaper flat (no bezel) caddy that still has an extractor button.

Very good performance for the money.
If I could I would give it 4.5 stars. I tried the device on 2 legacy TV's in different parts of our house using the same laptop running Win 7 using its VGA output. One on TV, the video is very good. On the other, video is also good but there is a bit of electronic noise that shows as a subtle horizontal static band drifting up/down the screen. So it seems you need your TV to be in an environment free of electronic noise to avoid interference. I found the adjustment buttons on the device to be useful for sizing/centering the picture and optimizing the image (removing flicker). I think you will be pleased using this device to display laptop video such as from PBS, Netflix, etc on legacy TVs if can avoid electronic noise. If you want audio other than what your laptop provides, you'll need to connect its headphone output to an external speaker system.

Pleased with performance
Having tried some older generation powerline adapters and being disappointed with the mediocre results, I was skeptical but willing to give this AV2000 model a try because of need to better connect upstairs with basement to distant corners of our house. Glad to report that it works pretty well. Getting 90 mbits (megabits) per second sustained throughput. Seems stable. Could not be easier to set up. Every house will be different because of potential differences with wiring, both the material and topography. Insofar as how restrictive are the wiring requirements, I know that our two outlets in use are not controlled by the same breaker in our house.
