An unexpected gem
I saw a built kit at a local hobby store and was amazed at the detail from a Lego style snap kit? I purchased the Spitfire and it went together in about 15 minutes with no trimming, adjusting, painting, nothing! Granted this is not a highly detailed model, but the dimensions and scale (approx. 1/48) are spot on.
Based on that experience I am purchasing the P-51 D and fully expect a similarly good outcome. The box photos don't lie, the finished product is a very good representation of the plane. I wish Airfix would expand this line to include more WW2 U.S. fighters. I've been building models for 50+ years and no longer have the skill sets for highly detailed work, but this was an unexpected pleasure and a gem.
