Among Jim Carrey's Best

If a person is appreciative of Jim Carrey's sense of humor (and facial contorting) then this movie is among his best. There are more serious issues involving lying/parenting but for me it is hard to take Jim well....seriously. Unfortunately there is much profanity throughout and some vulgarity. From that point of view it can't be recommended by this writer except in a edited for television version. As the end credits roll there are some bloopers and theatrics which ought not be missed. The special feature about the movie includes an acceptible amount humor and some info about the cast, director etc.

Interesting but Hard to believe

Perhaps I've been inoculated against this type of story by Wayne's earlier pairing with Maureen O'Hara in the Quiet Man . A strong willed woman versus Wayne. The scenery and story is good but it just seemed a bit forced. If you are a John Wayne or Sophia Loren fan you'll survive. Otherwise I recommend to view a trailer before viewing.

Interesting Entertainment

When I listened to the first song the vocals sounded so high pitched they sounded unnatural. I almost shut the music off. However, I am glad I let it play. Some songs are either Rockibilly or its immediate predecessor. There is also a bluegrass sounding element on some songs. Add some apparently deliberate zaniness to the mix and a listener has the Maddox Brothers & Rose. Unique entertainment worth giving a listen to.
