Largely little known stories that effected the outcome of WWII for England
A very easy and informative read about the behind the scenes operations during WWII that focuses on Great Britain by those who pulled the strings; namely Winston Churchill.

Many mind stimulating articles on how to build scientific gadgets
The book is now out of print and hard to find which is what is driving the price. It is a compilation of featured articles called, "The Amateur Scientist" that was in the periodical "Scientific American" for many years. It is essentially a how to book that gives instructions on how to make many things at home easily; from telescopes to E-ray machines and many more. While the technology is now outdated, it still makes fascinating reading.
