Nest Protect Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm 2nd Gen Model S3004PWBUS 2-Pack

Overall good. But lack of speaking custom room names is a problem.
It's great overall, to the extent you never know until an event happens.
After 1 month, no false alarms. I have confidence in the multiple different ways it detects fire (2 types of light, and heat too).
However, I feel misled by the marketing about it speaking room names. The list of room names is very limited. So for example, it can say "there is smoke in the bedroom". Every second counts when at 3am you need to find the source of the fire. But "bedroom" is all it can say. Which bedroom is not supported. We have 6 bedrooms. It can say either "master bedroom" or "bedroom". We wanted our children's names for each bedroom but it can't speak custom names. As a compromise, we would have been fine with "bedroom 1", "bedroom 2", etc. But it can't speak numbers either.
I bought 4 and that's enough for now. I would have bought another 6, but I am waiting for generation 3 in case they can fix this custom names problem.
It is pretty amazing what their engineers have achieved on just battery power.
They connect with each other over their own independent WiFi network. So if your router is the source of the fire (!) then they still connect with each other and all go off speaking the name of the room where the source is. That is pretty amazing to achieve on just battery power. The L91 batteries it uses are awesome.
I'm expected to replace the batteries once in 5 years. Then replace the units in 10 years. Time will tell.
Obviously, as many other people have stated, I've turned off the night pathway thing, and the green blink when the lights go off, to give the batteries the best chance.
