UV-82 preferred to the UV-5R

For the price, it's hard to beat. Manual programming is a little difficult (as is true with a lot of the new radios now), so I recommend the programming cable and "Chirp" software. This is the second of these I have purchased, and have been well satisfied with the radios. Prefer it to the UV-5R because of the dual PTT buttons, and the availability of an alkaline battery pack.
