The Betty Davis Murder Case

This book is a double bonus for me. First you have Bette Davis as the main character, and as I am an old movie buff, I found the actual details of her life that were thrown in fasinating. Then, there was the supporting character of AGATHA CHRISTIE, who is Bette's neighbor in the book. I have been a reader of Agatha for most of my life, and I loved having her in this book. It is set in England (my favorite country for murder mysteries) and the detective Inspector is an excellent character. Bette has come to England to file a law suit against her studio to gain better pay, and she rents the house next to Agatha Christie. Then Bette's landlord is murdered and she and Agatha have a hand in solving the crime. The plot is excellent and very well written. You won't guess 'who-done-it' until the final pages, and then you aren't completely sure until it is revealed. There are lots of twits and people are not who you think they are. I love George Baxt's books because of the 'insider' knowledge and old Hollywood gossip mixed in with the fictional story. Any of his "hollywood" murder cases are a great read, but you will find this is one of his best.
