The Continuing Story
1 of 1 found this helpful Bob Woodward's offer to bring us to the present in terms of the impact the Watergate era has had on a great many lives both personally and professionally is of significance. To coin a term, "we felt his pain" as he wrestled with a journalist's vow on keeping the confidentiality of a source. Even a source 30 years later whose life had been altered by time and memory as have ours. The author brought history into perspective as to the sequence of events, both then and now. We understood how the author's life had been altered as well.
I bought the book more out of curiosity than anything as one who had tended to forget that period of time when the actions of one man, direct or indirect, had altered the direction of a nation. I also found myself giving great thought and reflection to the actions of people in power today and how that has not really changed. Power, in and of itself, creates strange "bedfellows." Many of the other books of recent vintage on this subject have been authored by those who were caught up in creating the Watergate saga- the break-ins and violations of rights of others. Bob Woodward is the only one who can speak authoritatively of the true sequence of events and not profit from his mistakes as many others have tried to do.
This story in audio is even more vivid, read by the noted Tony Award winner, Boyd Gaines, as it reads like the journal of a man passionate about his work and of the role he played, and not simply a history book. It is truly Bob Woodward's account, his recollection, of the events of Watergate and of the man, Deep Throat. Because, after all, Deep Throat had a name. He had become the author's friend. And to the reader, he also became, many years later, a friend of the past.

Perfect storage for many applications!
1 of 1 found this helpful I have used Bankers boxes for the past year after doing away with other size storage boxes for my paper files. They take up less space and when I need to locate a document/file, they are easy to find. This product is sturdy and of exceptionally good quality. They are even attractive should your storage be seen by others, intentionally or not! I use labels to mark the contents and if my filing needs change or the files in a given box become obsolete and need to be shredded, the label can be easily changed. Recommend this product!
