Polymer plastic magazine
1 of 1 found this helpful The wording in the description suggests that this magazine is made of steel. It is not. It is manufactured of a polymer plastic just like the original Ruger magazine is for this rifle. Plastic is susceptible to cracking and breaking particularly with heavier use and freezing temperatures. Steel magazines while more expensive to manufacture can dent and may rust. I purchased this additional magazine as a backup to the plastic polymer one that came with the rifle. It fits the rifle, in a simple non firing test of the magazine ammunition cycled without incident. However, to be accurate the word steel should be edited out of the future descriptions of this product.
