Heavy and very effective bacon press
2 of 2 found this helpful Well made bacon press that fits perfectly in a medium sized frying pan and covers three rashers of back bacon. I was concerned that it might damage the pan"s non stick coating but, providing you are careful, the press rests on top of the bacon and doesn't come into contact with the pan at all. As an unexpected bonus, the press significantly reduces splatter.
The reason I bought the press was to ensure that EVERY part of the bacon comes into contact with the cooking surface. When bacon curls, this is not always the case. Given that a significant percentage of pork is infected with Hepatitis E, I am always very careful to make sure that it is thoroughly cooked, which should kill the virus.

This is the trap to buy
Walk the plank mouse traps are a great way to deal with a mouse infestation, because they automatically reset and can catch many rodents in one night. You can simply attach to a tall (over 18'" high) bucket to stop the mice jumping out, then take them well away and release them into the wild.
I previously bought a more expensive trap that was very poorly made and arrived broken. This trap is the exact opposite - extremely well designed and constructed and came very securely wrapped. It took about 2 min to push fit the four parts together - no tools required for this. Cleverly, there are two screws to slightly adjust the strength of the magnetic catch. An average house mouse weighs 20-30 grams, so if you find something of similar weight, you can gently push the object along the plank and adjust the magnet so that it releases the plank at just the right moment - when the mouse gets to the end.
To my surprise, this is one of the cheapest walk the plank traps on Ebay and yet could not be better made. I would recommend it without hesitation.

Great features, easy to install
3 of 3 found this helpful I bought this to replace a Honeywell ST7100, that had failed after 20+ years of reliable service. I had to wire in a new backplate - but the new unit only needs four connections - mains live, mains neutral, a wire out to hot water and a wire out to central heating. No earth needed as it is double insulated. Not much more complicated than wiring a mains plug. The backplate is industry standard so, if this timer ever fails, I should be able to take it off the backplate and plug in any available timer, just like swapping a broken light bulb.
Given that there are reports of the unit failing, I did consider getting a spare one - but they use a non replaceable back up battery that gradually runs down in storage, so decided to wait and see what happens and to get a brand new replacement if and when needed.
