Just what the doctor ordered
Found this after researching how to solve my dilemma. Easy to set up (after reading the instructions!) and did just what it said it would do.

Great item for the price and just what you need
Easy way to convert an existing ceiling fan light combo so you don't have to install a new switch and run a new wire to stop going to the center of the room and pull the chains. Only problem is there's no instructions. Not for the installation: pretty much self-explanatory. But for the use: there's a small switch that needs to be flipped if you use CFE bulbs, otherwise, the unit fries. and is useless afterwards.
