Belkin Battery Backup
ATT no longer supplies battery backup with their residential gateways. If you think making 911 calls is an important reason for having a land line then you certainly need a battery backup. The Belkin Rev B battery backup is designed for the purpose and appears to be well constructed. However, it is all about the battery. The battery is the key component of the system therefore you need to be certain the battery is good. Many sellers do not supply the battery which is okay as long as you figure that expense in your total cost. At least that way you know you have a good battery from the start. Many recommend the battery be changed every 3 years so eventually you will be buying a new one anyway. Changing the battery simple with instructions molded into the plastic case so they won't get lost.
Overall this is a great product for its intended purpose.

ClearSounds 40XLC works as advertised
While the unit is a bit large, that is not a bad thing for older folks. The unit has lots of options for headsets and bed shakers. As it comes in the box it has a very usable handset and speaker phone.
