Terry was swept under the rug
A mandatory book for class. I am annoyed at withholding my rating until I give a review. So... George goes on page after page about his daughters death. One he could have avoided if he wasn't a political figure. Like so many other children of political (famous) people, if they don't fit the Norman Rockwell Portrait of the typical American family they are cast out. Everyone (and the book) focus on her last four years of life before she died in the snow from expousre. She was chronic then. A ticking bomb waiting to do what is expected. After twenty five years her parents did the "tough love" deal and left her to her own. As a teenager, she was forced into sex by a disturbed boyfriend, became pregnant and had an abortion. The alienation from teenage life that it created, may have been part of what derailed her. Most likely it started years before that. But this was the first warning shot nobody saw. Being the daughter of a famous politician seeking re-election was also a problem. Famous parents always pay off their problem children. "Here is an apartment in a far away town, I'll pay for it. Stay away from the media and liquor stores." As long as they keep writing checks, the problem stays away. Alcoholism is something that happens to people, they don't choose it. It can develop around life's problems or independent of them. Alcoholism is a disease that will never be cured. The question is, is it a disease that can be controlled? The answer is: Not every time. Yet it is always worth trying. George turned his back on Terry. She died. She was sober 8 years before her death. The book does not answer that. What made her start again? An alcoholic is an alcoholic for the rest of their lives. The disease never stops progressing by just not drinking. If you go ten years of not drinking and one day take a shot. It will hit you like you drank the whole bottle. It is just as if you never stopped. Most alcoholics know this. It can kill them. Even with this knowledge, they can't stop. The threat of death doesn't sway their choice. Distance yourself from the alcoholic? Yes, or they will ruin your life too. Turn your back on them? No, it will kill them.

    Concepts of Helping a Stuident
The book was a gift and not read by me. I am annoyed that my ebay rating is left in limbo untill I write something. So here is my review... Student friend was faced with photocopying pages from the library reference version of the book "Concepts of Chemical Dependency" than buying a very expensive book. Books break students bank accounts. The biggest problem in buying older editions (like this one) is the information inside is outdated. One or two years is not that bad, but over 7 years? Need to rewrite the title to "General Concepts of Chemical Dependency of Days Past", that is all it is good for. A general reference to dependency history. A lot has changed in treatment and understanding in this field. Nothing has changed in book companies extorting cash from students. My friend still has to photocopy pages from the library. He uses the book he has to supplement the class lectures. Instructor says read chapter four, my friend is off to the library to find out what chapter is #4 was in 2001.
Rain Jacket Waterproof Weatherproof Outdoor Coat with Hood S-5XL, Portwest US440

Looks to be made to handle heavy rain and wind
Not much expected from a rain coat except to keep you dry. This should do that. As of my typing this, untested. Elastic wrist bands are tight. Will snip that problem. I prefer a loose fit at the wrist. Mistake I made was buying a rain jacket without a liner. I'm going to sweat like mad in this rubber suit. Will have to wear long sleeve shirt or sweat shirt under it.
