Quiet, Holds The Road In Downpours, Dampens Pot Hole Noise
I have these Michelin Premier A/S tires on my Honda Accord and Lexus LS430. Although the tires can seem relatively expensive against other brands and offerings, they actually do perform quite well. From light drizzles to downpours these tires hold the road and do not add much braking distance in these weather conditions. I had Dunlops before and these are much quieter on highways and hitting a pot hole doesn't shake the car as much. I don't know if these tires are going to be long lasting since the Honda has only 30K miles on the tires and Lexus less than 3K. The Honda shows only an 1/8" wear. I believe when these are new they come 9/32 which is not as deep as other brands that usually run 11/32. However, the manufacturer says that their rubber compound is meant to last longer so chances are they you'll exceed their warranty mileage unless you don't perform proper maintenance such as checking tire pressure, having tires balanced and having wheel alignment checked occasionally. Overall I am quite pleased with this tire and don't have much to complain about- except it can be pricey. You get what you pay for in the end.

The Authoritative Handbook of Port
If you want to know everything about Douro & Oporto Port than this book is for you. The book is well written and researched relying on months if not years of the author's personal excursions to Portugal. He has interviewed everyone from estate growers to processors to shippers. He has had the enviable opportunity to meet and work with the top names of the port industry today along with access to many of the personal company records/archives to compile this excellent story of the drink and its region. The book is as up to date as events of 2004 since the industry is still in the midst of rapid change and each crop becomes a new vintage which could raise or lower the bar of this wonderful beverage-Porto. This is his second edition and I would highly recommend a read through for anyone interested in Portugal, drinking Portuguese wines and/or ports or if you are planning on collecting vintage ports.
