1967 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Coupe
3 of 3 found this helpful This is probably one of the most beautiful cars ever produced, especially in Coupe form. The Series 1 4.2 version-1965 thru 1967- is the most desirable, having several design improvements but leaving untouched the classic toggle switch panel, the 3 carb setup, and covered headlights, as well as the less obtrusive (although less visible) front & rear turn/side/taillights of the original design. The 2 seat coupe is also less clumsy than BLMC's attempt to make a "family" coupe by producing the 2+2 in late 1966. The example on auction is well-kept, needing some restoration and a bit of paint repair, but overall not at all bad for a car now 40 years old. The wool sections of the interior are a bit motheaten looking, and the seats definitely need recovering- and possibly a few other bits as well, but definitely not the entire interior (the interior kit alone is around $4K +!); likewise some components of the engine bay need stripping and repainting (starting with the header tank!, not to mention detailing & polishing of the engine & its components, etc.,)as well as undoing what appears to be black spray paint on the front subframes- which should be the same color as the body (silver). I estimate it would cost someshere in excess of $10,000 to properly redo the areas mentioned, which considering the value of a very nice vehicle isn't at all unreasonable. If the car were to bring somewhere in the mid-$20K area, or possibly a bit more, it would be a very good value, allowing for necessary repair/restoration indicated in the excellent photos.
