Fantastic
3 of 3 found this helpful I've been just pluging all these cables into a USB hub and using a USB converter for an additional monitor. Always problems, but .... it worked. The docking station was 240 and I just couldn't do it.
Now that I got this one so cheaply (comparibaly) I feel like a fool.
This thing is awesome. The laptop comes in and out like a dream. There's no plugging or fiddling with drivers because it's all hard-wired in. Everything works. Getting up to go home or to a cafe is now a 3 second move instead of a pile of cables and frustration.
I know it seems like a major 1st world problem type of whining, but I probably spent at least an hour a week fiddling with cables and dealing with idiotic problems when that hub spazzed out, or I plugged a USB into a port it hadn't been in previously and suddenly it's installing everything again.... ugh. Monitors suddenly not appearing. Having a phone charging on the hub kicking everything out of wack, etc...
Worth every penny.

That extra little bit...
1 of 1 found this helpful I'm not a big audiophile, but I got some nice headphones a while ago and noticed a big difference. I thought, "WOW! I wonder what else I've been missing".
I also work with my laptop in a docking station, that's about 6' from my workstation, so I had been using a bluetooth transmitter, but that didn't have great quality. So, with the USB, I stuck it into the usb hub on my desk and leave my bose headphons right there. So, that's convenient.
As far as sound quality... I think it's a tiny bit better. On some songs I can't tell the difference, but on some files it's noticeable.
I consider it an investment. I figure it will last 3 years, so it cost about 120, so about $3.33/month. Basically, I'm buying myself an extra latte each month. I think it makes my life better by a latte each month :)

Wow.
We had a fire in the restaurant downstairs from my office. (a room about 15'x15'). I put this little gadget in place and started not noticing the smell. Then.... I swear it couldn't have been more than a couple hours... I went to lunch and, upon opening the door, was slammed with the odor from the hallway! My office had none.
Outstanding.
So, I realized I had my mother in law staying over our house, and she's allergic to our cat. I broght it home and popped it in her room. This morning, I asked how she slept and she paused, then was pretty surprised that she had slept well, since the prior night she kept sniffling.
I'm going to get 2 more for my house. (we've actually been having forest fires north in CA that have been screwing up the air in SF, so It's probably a good idea. ) Since it handled the smoke from that restaurant fire and the allergy problems with the cat, it's gonna do fine with some distant particles from a forest fire an hour away..
