Book Acceptable
1 of 1 found this helpful I purchased the book for my wife who is taking an accounting class at our local community college. Comparing the cost of the book at the college bookstore vs the auction price --- well, no comparsion. What the college bookstores charge their students for books compared to open-market charges for the SAME IDENTICAL book, I consider almost illegal.
Anway, the book is fine. It is not great, but ok for basic accounting class. My only suggestion to the author would be to greatly expand the section on ethics and ethical bahavior. As most people know already, over the recent years, the stock market has been rocked by companies who "cook the books" and do other illegal crimes on their shareholders. Accounting firms have literally gone out of business ( Arthur Anderson Inc ), peoples' careers have been ruined ( Tyco ), and shareholders' assets have been lost forever ( Enron, Global Crossing ) with a big contribution of the problem to ILLEGAL accounting practices. Additionally, the "little accountants" at their desks have not reported these crimes ( yes - crimes and they are felony types ) to law enforcement. Who loses? Sometimes the employees, but always the trusting shareholders who own the stock. A thief comes in my house, s/he goes to jail. But, Adelphia or Enron or "etc" goes into thousands of homes and robs the money -- they receive minimal sentences like going to "Camp Cupcake".
Well enough. Buy the book; ok. Take the course; move on.

HP C4180 Printer works great!
4 of 4 found this helpful Won the auction from a private party seller. Rec'd ok; no problems. Unit was brand new. Attachments, set-up, check-out, etc was flawless; no problems interfacing with my Gateway computer.
The only thing I do not like is that this model of HP, both the color cartridge and the black-ink cartridge are significantly less in volume of ink compared to my old 8 year HP printer. I know why HP does the decrease ( to make more cartridge sells which equals more profit for them !! ), but they get the consumer mad at them. Anyway, I counteract this problem by bidding on cartridges through e-Bay ( retail about $30 and a successful bid of about $15 !! ).
I have used the printer for printing out tax forms ( I refuse to electronic submit them to the Feds and the State [ just to get them mad and INcrease their processing costs ] ) and normal printing uses. The printer works fine ( no jams, etc ) and consumption of ink is acceptable.
Would I purchase another C4180 knowing what I know now? Yes. Be advised though, the printer is intended for household use on a limited number of pages basis ( in other words, this is not an office machine intended to print hundreds of pages per day, 5 days a week ).
