Perfect but you must know what you are doing
This key fob shell is really an excellent value but you have to know a little bit about Volkswagen keys. Here are some hints to set some expectations with you. 1. the area of the key that has the metal flip out key has an embedded microchip that speaks with the Volkswagen computer in the vehicle. This is the top half of the key and most likely will not be replaced (you must use your existing). 2. I primarily needed the bottom half because the buttons on my original key fob had worn out, I disassemble the bottom half took the guts from the original key and added them to the shell. 3. Assembling the old top half with the new bottom half can be a challenge because the two pieces are not a perfect fit, persistence will lead to success. It does work just takes a good deal of force.
Bonus: This was my favorite part, I took the unused top portion of the new case up to Ace Hardware and they cut a matching mechanical key that I can use to open the trunk or the door lock in the instance my original key ever gets locked inside the vehicle. Again the newly cut key will not actually start the vehicle because there is no microchip, but my original key worked perfectly for this I just needed a back up just in case my original key is accidentally locked in the vehicle.
