A Great Addition for your Parenting Toolbox
1 of 1 found this helpful I was introduced to this book when I was participating in a monthly support group for parents with emotionally troubled children that was organized and run by my local mental health agency. It provided me with real insights into the traps that we set for ourselves when the conventional responses we make to the overpowering emotional behaviors of our struggling children backfire and inflame rather than calm them down. It helps us to understand patterns that are not easily controlled and gives practical ideas about how to approach them. I've been recommending it to friends and acquaintances in similar situations and have gotten it for our town library. I also think that it is a very good book to use in group situations, and to the women who said that such groups are not offered for children, I recommend that she enlist counselors from her area mental health agency to start up such a group herself with their aid. It is invaluable to have other parents with whom to share experiences and ideas.

A Classic Brought to Life
Kurt Vonnegut, himself, was thrilled with the movie! But you should read the book too!
