The Journal of William Henry King

This is an excellent book with actual detailed descriptions of his life as a soldier and prisoner during the Civil War. I ordered multiple copies of this book because he is an ancestor in our family tree. I enjoyed reading his writings and felt that extremely close to him as I read his day-to-day notes that he undoubtedly had not planned at that time I am sure to share with everyone but oh how thankful we are that he did share his writings. It is truly a step into the past that helps us understand just what he was enduring in this very difficult war amongst neighbors and friends and families that were caught up in their day-to-day living until Civil War made them all choose sides. It has detailed information that is honorably gold to those of us researching genealogy. It lists his family members and then he also makes notes about others that he came to know as a confederate soldier. Civil War enthusiasts will most certainly enjoy William Henry Kings personal diary. The transcribed diary of William Henry King is an excellent book for those who relish first hand information about the Civil War. It is definitely one diary that I will never forget.
