RABBIT HUTCH GUINEA PIG HUTCHES RUN RUNS LARGE 2 TIER DOUBLE DECKER CAGE

Customise this hutch and your Guinea pigs will love it
I would say this hutch is reasonable quality, not so great value given it really needs extra work in my opinion (or should I say in our Guinea pigs' opinions) - but read on...
I think this hutch is pitched towards Rabbits and Guinea pigs, our family has owned many guinea pigs over the years (well into double figures) I would say its a good size for two guinea pigs - but I would imagine it would be smallish for rabbits given the height and widths of the floors. Sellers are often too interested in pleasing both Rabbit and Guinea pig owners - but why, surely there is a big enough market for a hutch to be specialised and better suit each kind of animal.
Our guinea pigs were immediately scared of the stairs/ramp, even after a few days one was not willing to go down them as they are simply too steep and the ramp doesn't have enough treads to help them brake, their decent was really precarious and there is a real risk they could get injured as they would slip down. So out of the box, to be fair I would NOT recommend this hutch for guinea pigs.
However I could see the hutch was pretty close, and after extending the ramp by 8 inches, adding lots more wooded treads our guinea pigs were delighted and you can see they really enjoy going up and down the ramp and exploring. We added an extra (plastic) shelter to the lower floor and some tubes and they really enjoy the variety.
Please note I also adapted the hatch (that prevents access to the lower floor), as in the 'open' mode this reveals a large hole/drop and presents a risk of injury and isn't ideal for guinea pigs. So I cut the hatch down - leaving one third attached to the hinges, and adjusting the 'stops' and this works very well in protecting against a fall but leaving ample room to decend down the ramp.
If these customisations were standard this would have had top marks and been one of the best guinea pig hutch you can buy - in my opinion.
I hope this information is of use to guinea pig owners.
