Well machined solid chunk of heat-absorbing aluminum
This is exactly what it looks like, and does exactly what you'd expect it to do. Very high quality. If you need a heatsink in these dimensions, look no further.

Fantastic value, robust control, and excellent genuine MPC pads
The Akai MAX25 was my main controller for a few years, and it never failed to deliver. I enjoy playing real pianos, so I was looking for a keyboard controller with a decent feel. It's super challenging to find a decent keybed in a 25 key controller, and I will admit this clearly can't compete with the feel of any weighted 88 key controller, but in its class, this controller is as good as it gets. The MPC pads are where it truly shines though. They feel great and are 100% authentic, just like the originals. Nothing satisfies like slapping one of these durable pads and feeling a massive 808 kick rock through your system. I rarely used it, but the built-in sequencer and CV controls are super cool and potentially useful, especially if you're running it into modular analog gear. This thing is surprisingly robust and durable as well. It's clearly very well built. The bright red is brilliant--triumphant even. It's a pleasure to perform with, truly. I've since switched to a Roli Seaboard, and paired it with a Korg Minilogue and Moog Sub 37 for performance, but I will forever be fond of the MAX25. If you have a chance to get your hands on one, definitely give it a shot and try out the MPC pads!
