A slight disappointment

I bought this game on the recommendation of the IGN staff for a portable bowling game. While the game certainly plays well, looks sharp (for Game Boy Color) and has two awesome features (Wax ON/OFF and a practice mode that allows you to set up whatever pins you want), the game lacks depth. In my first 12 games, I bowled a 300, which appears to be required to win the final tournament. If you have to have a portable bowling game, this one certainly looks good, but Polar Bowler might be a bit more fun.

Mario Kart 8 (Nintendo Wii U, 2014)

Wii love it!

My 11 year old son prepared for and won a local Mario Kart 8 competition. We looked up tips and watched fastest times and practiced, practiced, practiced. Toppling him in any race is a blast! This isn't just a racing game. With all of the items and crazy courses, anyone has a chance to lead the pack (at least briefly). You can customize your kart or bike to a degree, and there are plenty of beloved Nintendo characters to choose from. Compared to past versions, the battle game is not the best, but the courses are spectacular!
