great filter

No more green koi pond. It's sparkly clear, but this created a problem. My dog and cat will only drink from the koi pond now and not their water dishes.

Good value; OK sound

Good transmission distance. Plenty of overhead/volume. Sound quality is average --has diminished highs and fidelity. Sound is about like an FM station; nowhere near studio quality. This is acceptable for live and studio monitoring and still a great value compared to Shure and others.

PreSonus Firepod Digital Recording Interface

Oldie but goodie

The Firepod / FP10 was Presonus' first generation Firewire-based audio interface. I've had mine over 10 years and still love it, even though there is no longer driver support for Windows 10. It *does* run OK under Win10, though I've chosen to keep my platform on Win7 64 because everything is more stable and all my software is supported there. The FP10 has plenty of gain on the mic preamps, very low noise and no coloration. The ASIO drivers work well with very low latency even when recording 10 inputs at once. After 10 years the volume control on mine started getting scratchy -- normal wear, so I bought another more gently used FP10 while the other parts are on order. If you have a Firewire card and find a used one of these buy quickly.
