I keep coming back to the V30
I bought two of the V30s to go into an 4x12 cab along with two Celestion G12H-75s that is being powered by a new Orange Rockerverb 100W MKIII. Unfortunately, I had some tube socket issues and had to send it to Atlanta for diagnosis and repair so I haven't had the opportunity to play this combo out. However, I do have an 8 ohm version in another cab that I've had for 3 years and all my comments will refer to this particular speaker.
The Vintage 30, for all its so-called shortcomings of spikey mid-range sound, is still one of the best speakers I have ever used. When I hear comparisons on YouTube, against a WGS Veteran 30, for example, I keep coming back to the full bodied sound that the Vintage 30 imbues. I have another one that replaced an Eminence special design transducer in a Supro that sounds much better than the original.
The sonically pleasiing tones this speaker dishes out improves over time. The highs get less shrill and the speaker warms up. It's never flubby.
Do check out this speaker. I can't wait to get my Rockerverb back in operation to put the V30-G12H combo through it's paces. It's not the best value speaker around at close to $160 a pop, although I was able to get a decent price on eBay. Then again, you get what you pay for.
