A valuable time piece but after some effort
So the watch is truly mint and looks almost new and unworn. The case and the crystal have no sign of age nor significant scuffs or scratches. The screen has no burnt segments. The pushers are all soft and work smoothly without error. The functions are all quite well but the calculator which did not work at all. The alarm is unbelievably load (it can fling you out of the bed in the midnight), the light works excellent and time keeping is quite accurate. Indeed, you will not put the watch away or use another one when you wear it for the first time.
OK granted! For a watch with this age, the calculator might not work (it has forgotten all the math it learnt in the primary school!) Yes, it is acceptable that the tiny push-buttons in the top side of the watch (which are more vulnerable to unwanted hits) will not do their job perfectly even if you press them with one tone of force. Only buttons 2 and 4 have an effect on the screen.
The other issue is with the LCD screen which shows a shadow (a track of rainbow colors) in some viewing angles.
After a couple of days of using, the screen started to blink which showed the battery was running out of order. Then I extracted the battery and as an electronic engineer, before I replaced the battery, I measured the voltage which was quite perfect, namely 1.62V. This means the battery was okay. So the problem should be with the circuit not the source.
I was curious to find the reason so I opened the back of the watch and had a look at the movement using a microscope then I discovered a tremendously bitter fact with the movement which changed my mind totally.
The negative contact of the battery was detached from its pin in the movement (again an effect of age and presence of moisture which are not related to the seller) and was glued with a superglue and when I wiped out the remainders of the glue and the sulphate around the circuit's pin and tried to fix the contact in its place, I figured out it was almost impossible using traditional ways- I mean soldering or conductive glues.
So I exploited my innovation to apply another approach using some specific stuff in my lab to assist the factory-made contact to stay in its place and meanwhile, support the electrical contact with pin in the movement circuit. Yeah! I was successful in repairing my most favorite watch in my small collection. Worth to mention that the calculator also started to work. Just the buttons 6, 0 and decimal point are not working and I will try to fix them as I find some free time to open the watch again.
All in all, what I came to conclusion shows the movement might belong to another SEIKO C359-50xx much more under usage and not well maintained as the case, the keyboard and the crystal. But despite of the calculator's keyboard, everything is in right order now and you feel you are wearing a brand new vintage digital SEIKO watch. So, I will follow this seller and continue to have a look at their inventory.
Many thanks to shirl_jacki who realized one of my teenage-time dreams!

So Far So Good
1 of 1 found this helpful What I have on my camera (Rebel T3i) is a significant advance toward a professional optical device. In fact, I regret why I didn't buy a USM lens right at the time of buying my camera and I used to stick at the 18-55 mm kit lens. With the new lens, I'm feeling real photography. Sharper images, better low light performance, faster autofocus, 5x zoom capability all provide my camera to outperform comparing to non-USM lenses.
I just hope that this very nice-looking lens will continue to serve me nicely for a while as I expect.
Many thanks to tadashi-japan.
