A quality mount!
Compared to other mounts in this price range, the XSKEL touts superior quality. What's not obvious based on the pictures is that the rail lugs are rigidly fixed in the base, not loose until the rail nut is tightened like many competitor mounts. This promotes a more consistent return to zero. The rail nut is captured, so it won't completely spin free. Also, the ring screws thread in to steel sleeves, allowing greater torque and less risk of stripping. This is the reason for the ultra-wide profile of the rings. Weight reducing cuts are made in the rings, but also on the bottom side of the mount. And the scope height is 1.435", lower than normal. So keep that in mind if you find common mounts (like the P.E.P.R.) to be too high. I've officially found my new go-to mount.

Quality product!
The datum diameter is spot on. Another correctly turned tool from Hornady.

Fantastic design!
1 of 1 found this helpful This die is ingenious. Due to the collet squeezing the neck of the case around a precision turned mandrel, the inside diameter of the sized neck is perfectly round. It does not rely on an expander to open up the case neck to the proper diameter, so there is less chance of pulling the neck out of alignment and the brass is work hardened much less. Bushing dies also work the brass much less, but if you're not turning case necks then you're making the outside of the neck perfectly round and pushing all the imperfections of the neck wall thickness to the inside of the case mouth. My point in this paragraph is that if you're seeking the most concentric ammo possible, but not willing to turn case necks, you should strongly consider the collet neck die. It's designed exactly for you and it works well.
