It's Fire Emblem, alright
1 of 1 found this helpful Gameplay: Classic Fire Emblem. The school segments are a good chance to get to know the characters better, marred slightly by a hugely oversized hub world and repetitive nature of the activities (though I admit, I did really enjoy fishing.) The new gambit system is somewhat gimmicky, but can come in clutch in late game. The crest system seems somewhat pointless, but I'm sure it can come in handy, too.
The story can take permutations based on the choices you make, but I found it pretty lacking, in the end. Like with Awakening, the real enjoyment is to be found in the character interactions. Byleth (the protagonist,) really has their own character, and that should be kept in mind when trying to roleplay.
