Prior to buying this Guerlain lipstick (in other colors), I was against spending over $50.00 on lipstick! I first encountered Lipstick Queen at Ulta over $50.00. Are they kidding? (I thought) I tried the selections. Not one came close to Chanel lipstick, which was my usual full-price purchase, preferably at Nordstroms (for the excellent customer service) and in-person because when trying on, it really boiled down to one or two best colors for me.) The Lipstick Queen trial led me to announe that I would never pay over $50.00 for lipstick. Then the Guerlain caught my eye on eBay. The Guerlain I initially purchased, was by my best guess: 2 tester refills from eBay. The seller was great, and the product was fresh. One color was an outstanding red on me (#21 Gala, if I got the # right). The other was beautiful and more orange and I liked it but gave it to my mother. I bought one more success in the same manner. These lipsticks turned out to be the best formula I have ever tried, better than Chanel! no lip pencil necessary. So, all bought at a fraction of the cost. Would I pay full boat after that, break my $50.00 limit? Yes. At Nordstroms I tried the Provocative color (a fuschia), and gladly spent the $ 54.00 I happened to have in credit. I would also pay that amount out-of-pocket, if I happened to have the budget, and I would rather buy one of these than get 2 of something else. I am not good at describing colors and nuances, but these colors are gorgeous and sexy. In my world of bright colors: reds, fuschia's, pinks, pink-reds, and corals occasionally, the Guerlain G's have so many that look great, on me, and any friend that has tried them on. There is sure to be more than one that you will fall madly in love with, that will look like it was made specifically to be your signature color. The containers are works of art, and the formula is fantastic coverage with one swipe. I have been buying make-up and lipstick for decades now, and the only 3 I really love are Burberry, Chanel, and in first place: Guerlain Rouge G.
