Clean, transparent stereo compression in a half-rack space
2 of 2 found this helpful Reading some other reviews about the 1773 can be misleading. This is a professional piece of gear. It is designed to be inserted into various professional signal paths, so a clear knowledge of gain stages and routing is absolutely essential. This 1773 is a beast and does a fantastic job of taming transients. Because it can handle stereo signals and takes up half the space of a 1U unit, the 1773 is perfect for project studios or configurations where space is a premium. I cannot say enough about how clean and quiet the units are, and the applied compression is extremely transparent. Being stereo, these units work great on mixing busses. They really shine where acoustic transparency is a must: acoustic guitar, small vocal groups, woodwinds, etc. Just an all-around really nice stereo compressor that belies it's size and cost. Given the 1773 price tag, I would expect to pay at least 3x (or more) as much for a compressor that does the job of what the 1773 can do. I am a recording engineer and musician with 30 years experience and take it from someone who has worked with the 1773 extensively: These truly are really nice compressors. Enjoy!
