Auto World '57 Chevy Bel Air Convertible Review
I like Auto World 1/18 diecast models because they are authentic enough in appearance but are not perfect in that way. For instance, instead of realistic " scissors" hood hinges, this model, as do many AW models, use thick armlike bars to support the hood. Another problem is the headlights and the black mark in the center which results from the way that the headlight lense is attached. To be honest, I hate this so much that I paint the lenses a silver chrome color that is passable in appearance though not a perfect solution.
I can't say much more except that the detailing is good enough and working parts operate well. I especially like the rendition of the famous fuel-injected V8

Serengeti Velino sunglasses by Dennis Nicholson
The Serengeti Velino sunglasses, which I purchased in the Tortoise finish, are not polarized but I feel that this feature is not always necessary under most conditions. The tint is a grey green and works for most of the light conditions that I expect to encounter. The hinges are spring-loaded which, as I understand, is intended to provide a more secure fit. They are said to be hydrophobic and oleophobic which means that the lenses resist water and oil stains but I really am not able to say that I have really seen this in action. Also, the lenses are supposed to be photochromatic (i.e. the tint increases or decreases in intensity in response to the light levels. The effect must be subtle because I really can not see it. However, despite this, I like these shades. They are attractive and comfortable and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who was looking for a pair of non-polarized sunglasses.

War Master Type 61: a nicely detailed model
The War Master Type 61 has authentic detail and markings which to me is just as good as what I have seen on the Hobby Master models that I own for a much lower price. Detail parts are solid and do not have the fragility that I have seen on some of Hobby Master's replicas. One thing, that I could criticize, is that its finish has a sheen that seems to come from the colors being molded into the plastic. Yet there is nothing that I can fault especially for the price. Of course, I would recommend this fine replica to anyone.
