Fun gameplay loop. Lose hours or just play on commute
1 of 1 found this helpful Awesome game. Logged 200 hours in it just because I liked it that much. You can spend as much time or as little time beating the campaign but there's 4 different campaigns and the second+ time playing through is easier because of new game+. Can be enjoyed by all. This is the best Fire Emblem as far as character writing is concerned.
The primary gameplay loop is explore monastery/minigames, develop characters, fight enemies on tactical map (reminiscent of chess).
You do not need to play any other Fire Emblem (story is standalone).
For first time playing I suggest reading the tutorial/guide popups. Mechanics are slightly different from past games.
