The battery works fine
After charging the new battery, I plugged it into the Barbie Escalade and it worked just fine. The reason that I needed a new one was that I took the battery out in the winter months without recharging it for at least 4 months. This was a mistake. The instructions advise that it needs to charged at least once per month for 8 hours all year round, otherwise it will die and it did.
