Not watched on TV
I did not follow Fringe while it was on TV. My brother-in-law loaned me the DVD series, and I was hooked. The characters seemed to capture me and I had to keep watching. Sometimes a little gross, but that is today's TV.

Jesse Stone
Jesse Stone is one of the most sad characters I have experienced. While he is an expert sleuth, he is miserable at living his own life, although he seems often to know how to help others with their lives. Overall, Jesse Stone grows on you.
