Fine Performance - Very Poor Sound Restoration

Better sound restoration would make this fine performance much more enjoyable. I have a beautifully restored version on Columbia vinyl. The sound is much fuller than any "restored" CD version I have found. On all CDs (5) I have, the sound is extremely thin, the voices unreasonably peaked, and/or over-reverbered. Why can't these re-issuing "do-gooders" playing around with the original and simply remove as much surface noise through digital techniques? Period. Steve

The reason for 4 stars is that I believe it should have a 2 1/2 turn on-off valve instead of several turns required.

Unique Product For People With Different Hearing Levels In Each Ear

This product is a godsend for people using headphones who have different hearing levels in each ear. Not only can they balance the sound to their liking, but there are also separate bass and treble controls. This enables some control over headphone sound quality. These units are extremely well built. They are also "plug and play" - extremely easy to set up. I have a friend with the above hearing problem (mostly balance in volume levels in hearing). This unit (the only one I've found to solve this partial hearing imbalance) solves the problem perfectly. The problem with all of the "professional" units is that they both output levels to be equal - which does not solve the problem for people with hearing imbalances. This is fine for normal a/o professional use - it's what they need. But not for those with a hearing imbalance.
