Countess Dracula (Blu-ray + DVD) 2-Disc Hammer Classic Horror
    Jul 28, 2020
Ingrid Pitt and Kensington Gore make a Hammer classic
Whether you believe that Elizabeth Bathory was a blood bathing demon or the victim of slander by debtors looking to avoid paying, the story is an intriguing one. This is one of the early 1970's Hammer films to take advantage of the looser content restrictions and Ingrid Pitt was the perfect choice to portray the countess. The H.264 encoded video transfer really pops and the two-channel DTS-HD Master Audio is crisp and clear. There are a few nice extras as well, especially if you are an Ingrid Pitt fan, including an audio commentary with Pitt and director Peter Sasdy, a 10 minute featurette: Immortal Countess: The Cinematic Life of Ingrid Pitt, and an 8 minute interview with the actress, plus a photo gallery and theatrical trailer… all in all, a nice package. My only regret is that Hammer made the bonehead decision to dub Pitt’s using another actress. I’ve never understood Hammer’s penchant for doing this but it is common in many of their films. This movie has gotten a lot of flak over the years for not having anything to do with Dracula or vampires but Hammer, like American International and a lot of the low budget studios usually came up with the title and poster and then wrote the screenplay. Besides… Dracula sells tickets. Cheers!

If you lived it, you'll love it!
This is a facinating book on a fallen landmark. The history of a Southern California amusment park from its hey-day to demise. The photos and artifacts are wonderful. I went to the park twice, once as a child and again as a teenager. I witnessed the changes and now I know why.
