Martini Madness: A Blast from the Past
This CD recalls a bygone era, when one might jet off on a Pan Am 707 to Rio to while listening to Sergio Mendes and Brasil '66. It was a time when the Bossa Nova craze was in full swing, and Middle American suburban white couples shimmied awkwardly to Latin rhythms in really bad suits and gaudy dresses. The sex symbols of the day were Rock Hudson, Doris Day, Cary Grant, and Audrey Hepburn. Booze flowed freely, the counter-culture consisted of self-consciously cool Beatniks, and America still believed in its government, Watergate and Vietnam not having become national tragedies yet. This is the music your parents danced to, and it's actually darn good stuff, showing that maybe the old folks knew a thing or two. Just hearing Connie Francis singing in Portugese is worth the price of admission. Put it on some night when you have friends over and treat them to something most of them have never heard. Or play it for your parents and watch them smile as their minds go back to those heady days when they too were young and in love.
2014 Hot Wheels Star Wars Series, 501st Clone Trooper #7

Neat design that evokes the look of a Clone Trooper while still looking like a car!
This Hot Wheels car is part of a line that incorporates the designs of certain Star Wars characters. Normally, you'd expect something like this to be a normal car with a different paint job, or a car with the head of the character on top, but the folks at Mattel actually went one better by making a car that incorporates the look of a Star Wars character while still looking like a functional car! The sleek blue and white design really does evoke the feel of a Clone Trooper's armor. Like all Hot Wheels, it rolls well and is made of sturdy die-cast metal, so it can withstand a lot of punishment from little kids. An outstanding job!

This book is an extremely useful resource for pre-1980 wargames and RPGs.
This book is a real trip down memory lane for the old school gamer. I had a copy of it back when it was first published, and it was a wonderful resource for anyone interested in wargames and role-playing games. The reviews are detailed, insightful, and occasionally even humorous. Even though almost all the games it covers are now out-of-print, it's still a fun read and very helpful if anyone wants to play one of those old games they might have lying around.
