A Close Look at a Quiet Genius and His Much More Visible Creations
A much more interesting and complete view of Jim Henson's life and work than, for instance, the American Masters program on him.
Good clips of interviews with Frank Oz, opening up more than usual, Jerry Juhl, the often unsung third key member of the Muppets team (head writer from the beginning), and bits and pieces from many others.
Also includes hard to find and seldom seen early footage of the first Muppets appearances on local television.
Altogether, enjoyable and fascinating to anyone interested in this shy and private but hugely talented and creative man, whom we lost much too soon.

Very enjoyable telling of a fascinating story; it deserves an updated format.
PRINCESS CARABOO is a lovely, intriguing, handsome film, with fine performances of well-drawn characters and a screenplay that captures interest and has viewers wondering about the outcome all the more because the story it tells is true.
This CD uses an actual "letterbox" format; it puts black space above and below the image so the true format of the film can be seen even on a standard (1.33 x 1) television screen.
When The Powers That Be get around to putting this on BluRay and expanding the image to fill wider television screens so that it truly looks its best, it will work its way up to five stars!

Extraordinary Stories All Around Us
Perhaps these audio tracks by Charles Kuralt would have been even better with the video that originally accompanied them... but even without the images, we can be deeply touched and moved by his stories of ordinary people and the quite extraordinary things they they sometimes do.
In this time of perpetual whining on every side, it is heartening to listen to these stories and be struck over and over by the simple kindness, generosity and decency of people who expect no special recognition, let alone compensation, for what they do.
It makes me wish that he was still with us, still using his keen eye and open heart to search out and find and share tales of people and the things they do that truly make us glad to be part of this time and place... and for a storyteller like Charles Kuralt.
