RECYCLED, NOT NEW

THESE HP REPLACEMENT DVD-RW DRIVES ARE THE CORRECT HP PART NUMBER BUT THEY ARE NOT NEW AS INDICATED IN THE LISTING. THE DRIVES WERE PACKED LOOSELY IN A PADDED ENVELOPE NOT IN ORIGINAL SEALED PACKAGING FOR NEW PARTS. THERE WERE FINGERPRINT SMUDGES ON THE OUTSIDE AND DUST ON THE INSIDE TRAY. HOPEFULLY THERE WILL BE SOME DECENT LIFE LEFT IN THESE DRIVES AS THEY WERE PURCHASED FOR A CLIENT.

Does it perform well? The only choices are yes/no, the better choices would 1 to 10 where I would have rated a 6 or 7. The center pin on the soldering side is not solder friendly. It's definitely not real gold plating as that would solder easily. It takes a bit higher temp than expected to complete a solder joint here. The outer side does not provide a snug fit to RCA plugs that are plugged in. The diameter of the outer portion is slightly smaller than previously used jacks or those found on most equipment. The inner diameter of the jacks is slightly larger than previously used jacks or those found on most equipment, The combination of the diameter differences provides a less than snug fit when a RCA plug is plugged into these jacks. Contact does occur but a more snug fit would provide a more certain connection.
